Entering Vietnam from Cambodia by land

May 08, 2017
Dear Sir/ Madame,

I will be entering Vietnam on a land border crossing from Cambodia in June 2016. Since I am a dual citizen, I hold a German as well as a Canadian passport. I am planning on staying no longer than 15 days. My question is if I need a visa, and if it makes a difference which passport I use for entry?
Another question I have is if it would be any different if I flew from Cambodia to Da Nang airport?
Thank you very much for the support, your help is much appreciated.

Dear Mr/Ms Julius,

Thank you for your concern.

First of all, we would like to confirm you that according to the Vietnam Immigration's new policy, from July 1, 2015 to 31 Feb 2019, 12 countries (including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK and Belarus, Norway, Finland and Sweden, South korea, Japan, Denmark) no need Visa if they stay in Vietnam less than 15 days. However, the previous visit must be far at least 30 days the next visit and your passport's validity must be more than 6 months.

Hence, if you enter Vietnam with Germany passport you do not need Visa.

In case you enter Vietnam with Canadian passport, you need Visa then and you can apply online with us to get Visa at Vietnam airport by filling your information out at: https://www.vietnam-evisa.org/apply-visa.html

In term of your second question, it will not be any different if you flew from Cambodia to Danang airport (same procedure as you enter via Ho Chi Minh/ Hanoi/ Cam Ranh airport).

Best regards

Hanah
