I have recently read that US citizens are now only eligible for a year long visa. Is this information correct, or are US citizens still eligible for one month single entry visas?

According to the new Regulation from The Vietnamese Immigration Department, from Aug 25th 2016, US citizen will get only 1 type of Visa that is 1 year multiple entries Visa and the stamping fee is 135USD/person.
Therefore, you have to get 1 year visa even you just stay for 1 day
