I currently have a 3 month multi entry visa due to expire on 27th August.
I wish to get a second 3 month multi entry visa on the 23rd August as I fly back from Tokyo that day.
Is it possible to obtain a 2nd visa before my 1st visa has expired?

Did you use your current visa to enter Vietnam? If yes, you can apply for another 3 months visa now for your next trip on Aug/23. After that, you just need to leave Vietnam then can return with new visa without any problems
