Off a Ship and onto to a plane in Vietnam

Hello there: I will be taking a cruise with Azamara which will stop in Vietnam for 2 days, however due to lack of enough days off , I will have to return to the states from Vietnam. The cruise line is asking me to find out whether I need or not a visa to be able to depart from Vietnam, since I will arriving by ship and departing by plane. Can you please indicate if I need to apply for a Vietnam visa to e able to debark the ship and transfer my self to the airport to board a flight departing Vietnam to the states?
