Single Entry or Multiple Entry?

Jun 29, 2017
I am planning a trip to visit Vietnam and will be flying into Hanoi from Taiwan, and I understand I will need a visa for this entry. From Hanoi, I will be traveling down to two additional cities in Vietnam (Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh) via flying and finally leave Vietnam after a week. If I am flying between cities within Vietnam, do I purchase the single entry or multiple entry visa?

There is currently visa exemption for British visitors for trips under 15 days, single entry.

I am doing the following journey - London - Phu Quoc (flight via Hanoi), then flight Phu Quoc to HCMC, then HCMC to London.

Does the internal flight between Phu Quoc and HCMC mean I need a visa, or are internal flights ok?

Dear Kathryn,

  • Citizens of the United Kingdom won't need a visa if staying for fewer than 15 days.
  • A gap of at least 30 days between two visa-free visits is required.
  • In case of intending to stay for more than 15 days, you should apply for a visa.

However, please make sure that you get the 15 days stamp at Phu Quoc airport, as once you get to Phu Quoc, you have 30 days visa exemption but only valid here.

If you got the 30 days visa exemption and want to fly to Ho Chi Minh city, have to apply for a visa. So please make sure you got the 15days visa exemption at Phu Quoc airport, then the internal flight is no problems.

Thanks

Hi, I am flying to Hanoi from the UK, then to HCMC and then finally Phu Quoc. I will be spending 14days between Hanoi and HCMC before flying onto Phu Quoc.
Will I need to obtain a single entry Visa for my holiday or will I be exempt following the under 15days travel in Vietnam for British and 30days in Phu Quoc?

Thanks

Dear sir/ madam,

Thank for your concern,

As infomation which you provided, please apply a visa to enter VN with staying longer 15 days.

For Phu quoc, exmption visa for 30 days in case you're just staying Phu Quoc only and don't go any places in Vietnam. If you are going use UK Exemption visa for 15 days  to enter VN ( Ha Noi Or Ho chi minh ) first for about 14 days and then Fly to Phu Quoc. Total dates which you stayed longers . please apply a visa.

Thanks!

I am flying into Ho Chi Minh City from Hong Kong (with a Canadian passport) and will be staying in Vietnam for 6 days. I have obtained a single-entry, 1 month visa.

Will my single entry visa allow me to fly to Phu Quoc and return to HCMC within this time frame? Or does that count as multiple entries?

Dear Laura,

Please give us the full itinerary.

Incase you only travel within Vietnam and will not exit for another country, then the single entry is covered.

Thanks

Hi, i am going to visit Vietnam and would first land in Ho Chi Minh City Airport. Without leaving the airport, I would take new flight to Da Nang and enter Vietnam territory from that airport. My question is- which city should I mark as an entering point in visa?

Thanks,
Sander

Dear Niamh Cooper,

Thanks for your attention on our website.

We would like to inform you that once you enter Vietnam, you can travel to any others cities in Vietnam normally with your single entry Visa.

The internal flight or internal bus route does not affect as long as you will not leave Vietnam during your period stay in Vietnam.

Best Regards,

Heidi Phan

Dear Brittany,

Thanks for your attention on our website.

As your itinerary, you only need one eVisa for your period stay in Vietnam.

You can take the domestic flight from Hanoi to SGN normally once entering Vietnam with your eVisa (single entry).

Best Regards,

Heidi Phan
