We hold an American passport, and will be on a cruise from Singapore, on Jan 20th 2017 - Royal Caribbean Cruise Mariana of the Seas- we will dock in Vietnam for about 8 hours, do we need a visa, & can I get the visa on board the ship.and how much is it? I have been told you can get it on the ship...

Even though you just stay in Vietnam for few hours, you also need to get visa. However, we just provide visa on arrival which you need to arrive in Vietnam by airplane to get visa. So if you will arrive in Vietnam by cruise, please contact with your cruise to get visa or you can go to Vietnam Embassy in your country to apply visa.
