Do I need to apply for a visa before arriving in Vietnam ? I will only be there two days. I hold a British passport and my friend a U.S. Passport.
Do we need approval letters or any other forms ?

Dear Emma,
Thank you for contacting us.
We are pleased to inform that from July 1st 2015 to June 30th 2016, UK passport holder can have 15 days visa exemption. However, they can only visit the country at least 30 days after their preceding visit to have another visa exemption.
So if you only stay in Vietnam for 2 days, you don't need to apply visa
