I want to leave the airport for a 9 hour layover in Ho Chi Minh and also staying in Nha Trang for 5 Days in January 2017. My passport expires in April 2018. How can I go about this?

We would like to inform that you had better renew your passport before applying for visa, because it should have at least 6 months of validity.
