Three Day Trip to Vietnam

Oct 07, 2016

Hello,

My three friends and I are studying abroad in Hong Kong (from the United States) as students. We are all US citizens and have US passports. We currently have a Hong Kong Visa that's valid until the end of the 2016 year.
We have planned a weekend trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. We arrive on a Friday night (October 7th) and leave on a Monday morning (October 10th) - so we only have two full days in Vietnam. Is a visa required for a trip that's under 3 days?? And if so can we get the visa at the airport?? We had read somewhere that we wouldn't need a visa but I decided to check it out just in case and it sounds like we do. We have over 30-hours until the flight. Would it be possible for us to just get the visa upon arrival??

Thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is informed that US citizens need visa to enter Vietnam. And according to the new Regulation from The Vietnamese Immigration Department, from Aug 25th 2016, US citizen will get only 1 type of Visa that is 1 year multiple entries Visa and the stamping fee is 135USD/person. Therefore, even you just stay in Vietnam for 3 days, you have to apply for 1 year visa. And if you want to enter Vietnam today (Oct/07), you need to apply for EMERGENCY case then we will send you the boarding plane letter within 30 minutes. Please go to this link to apply visa: https://www.vietnam-evisa.org/apply-visa.html
