My partner and I will be transiting HCM city each way MEL -LHR -MEL with long transit times 9 and 12 hours. We both hold UK and Australian Passports, do we need transit or other visas to go to a hotel rather than stay at the airport?

Thank for your question.
We are pleased to inform that If in transit time, you just stay in Vietnam and don’t go anywhere , you no need to get visa. If you want to leave out of the airport and go around you have to get visa.
In case you want to get visa to enter into Vietnam
- For UK passport : From July, 1st 2015 to next June 2016, Vietnam Government exempts Visas for nationals of United Kingdom . They do not need visa if staying in Vietnam less than 15 days regardless of their purpose or type of visas.
However, if this is not your first visit, especially in the latest 30 days, you have to apply visa.
- For Australia paspsort : You can get visa on arrival, first you just fill in application form in the link: http://www.vietnam-evisa.org/apply-visa.html . After receiving your payment, we will process and send to you the approval letter via your email within 2 working days, then just need print the letter out and use it to get visa stamp directly at Vietnam airport.
