I am travelling to vietnam on the 13th of july and my return is the 15th of august. I am aware British nationals do not require a visa and can stay up to 15days. My question is can I stay in vietnam for 1-2 days with out a visa and then let an e-visa cover the rest of my stay?

Yes, you can stay Viet Nam for 1-2 days without visa as long as you meet requirements below:
+ The passport must be valid at least 6 months from the entry date.
+ The previous visit must be far away from the next one at least 30 days
