Lonely Planet Recommends 10 of Vietnam's Most Beautiful Beaches

Posted by Vietnam-Evisa.Org on Jul 18, 2026

Alongside famous beach destinations like Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, Lonely Planet's latest list also highlights lesser-known coastal gems such as Doc Let and My Khe Beach in Quang Ngai.

In late June, the renowned travel guide Lonely Planet unveiled its selection of the 10 best beaches in Vietnam for the summer travel season. The recommendations are based on the firsthand experiences of the publication's editors and contributors.

Before exploring the country's breathtaking beaches, make sure you secure your Vietnam e-Visa. Most international travelers can conveniently apply online, and for those with last-minute travel plans, our urgent Vietnam e-Visa service can help expedite the process, with approvals available in as little as 1–2 business days.

1. Nha Trang Beach (Khanh Hoa Province)

Stretching for around six kilometers in a graceful crescent shape, Nha Trang Beach is one of Vietnam's best-known seaside destinations. Designated swimming areas provide a safe environment for visitors, separated from boats and water sports.

Beyond relaxing on the beach, travelers can join island-hopping tours or explore the colorful coral reefs through snorkeling and diving excursions.

2. Mui Ne Beach (Lam Dong Province)

Often referred to as one of Vietnam's coastal gems, Mui Ne offers beautiful beaches, upscale resorts, and a lively atmosphere after dark. It's the perfect place to spend sunny days by the sea and enjoy vibrant nightlife in the evening.

Mui Ne is also one of Asia's premier kitesurfing destinations. From late October to April, steady winds create ideal conditions for both beginners and experienced riders, while numerous schools offer lessons for visitors from around the world.

3. Phu Quoc Island (An Giang Province)

As one of Vietnam's most celebrated beach destinations, Phu Quoc has received numerous international tourism awards. The island is known for its powdery white sand, crystal-clear water, and lush tropical forests.

Sao Beach is especially famous for its soft white sand and turquoise sea. Those who venture farther on island tours can discover secluded beaches with a more peaceful atmosphere. Another unforgettable experience is riding the nearly eight-kilometer Hon Thom Cable Car, which departs from An Thoi Station in the island's south.

4. My Khe Beach (Da Nang)

My Khe is Da Nang's most iconic beach. Early mornings and evenings see locals practicing tai chi, jogging, or enjoying a leisurely walk, while visitors often spend the day swimming or sunbathing.

The beach boasts soft sand and clear blue water, although strong rip currents may occur during the winter months. Adventure seekers can also enjoy activities such as stand-up paddleboarding, surfing, and jet skiing.

5. Ho Coc Beach (Ho Chi Minh City)

Located about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from downtown Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Coc is an ideal destination for a weekend getaway. The beach stretches nearly ten kilometers north of Ho Tram and is prized for its peaceful atmosphere and untouched natural beauty.

Unlike many crowded beaches, Ho Coc remains relatively unspoiled, with rocky outcrops scattered along the shoreline and calm, clear water. It's an excellent place for swimming, beach walks, or simply unwinding in nature. While weekends and holidays attract more visitors, weekdays offer a quieter experience.

6. An Bang Beach (Da Nang)

Just three kilometers north of Hoi An Ancient Town, An Bang Beach is one of central Vietnam's liveliest seaside destinations. Its long stretch of white sand has suffered less erosion than nearby Cua Dai Beach and offers views of the Cham Islands.

Despite its natural charm, An Bang is well equipped with cafés, beach bars, and seafood restaurants, making it a wonderful spot to relax, swim, or watch the sunset. Lonely Planet suggests staying in one of the beachside homestays and visiting Hoi An during the day to avoid the busiest crowds.

7. Con Son Island (Con Dao, Ho Chi Minh City)

Once known primarily for its historical prison complex, Con Dao has become a favorite destination for travelers seeking pristine beaches and rich biodiversity. While Vietnamese visitors often come to explore its history, international tourism remains relatively limited, helping preserve the islands' peaceful atmosphere.

Con Son, the largest island in the archipelago, is surrounded by white-sand beaches, coral reefs, and picturesque bays. Much of the island is still covered by tropical forest, making it one of Vietnam's best-preserved natural destinations.

8. Cat Ba Island (Hai Phong)

Cat Ba is a popular stop for cruises through Lan Ha Bay and Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island's three Cat Co beaches, located just a short drive from the town center, are famous for their clear water, soft sand, and dramatic limestone cliffs.

Summer is the busiest season, bringing larger crowds, higher hotel prices, and longer travel times from Hanoi. For a more relaxed visit, October and November are considered the best months to explore the island.

9. Doc Let Beach (Khanh Hoa Province)

With nearly 18 kilometers of soft white sand and striking turquoise water, Doc Let has emerged as one of Vietnam's most beautiful beaches. Gentle waves and shallow water make it especially suitable for families with children and anyone looking for a relaxing beach holiday.

Tourism development has increased in recent years, attracting many day-trippers from nearby Nha Trang during the summer. Besides swimming, visitors are encouraged to sample fresh seafood and experience the local fishing community.

10. My Khe Beach (Quang Ngai Province)

Not to be confused with the famous My Khe Beach in Da Nang, Quang Ngai's My Khe Beach sits on a narrow sandbar lined with casuarina trees. The Kinh Giang River flows behind the beach, creating a scenic landscape where river and sea meet.

The shallow seabed and calm waves make it a safe choice for children and inexperienced swimmers. Families and travelers looking for a peaceful seaside escape will appreciate its tranquil atmosphere. For the best experience, consider visiting on weekdays instead of weekends or public holidays.
