New Tourist Train Connecting Hue and Phong Nha from September 1st

Posted by Vietnam-Evisa.Org on Aug 19, 2026

Starting from September 1st 2026, the new route, "Hue Ancient Capital – Phong Nha: A Journey Through Wonders and World Heritage," will connect the former imperial capital of Hue with Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its spectacular caves and limestone landscapes.

The train is a joint project between the authorities of Quang Tri Province, Hue City, and Vietnam Railways, aiming to offer visitors more than just transportation. Instead, the journey itself is designed to be part of the travel experience.

The train features eight modern carriages with space for 304 passengers. Travelers can choose from rotating soft seats that turn 360 degrees, a VIP carriage for a more comfortable ride, a community carriage, and a service and entertainment carriage.

On board, passengers can enjoy local specialties from Hue and Quang Tri, cultural performances, entertainment activities, and interactive technology that introduces the history and attractions along the route. The train is also designed to host special events, making it suitable for both leisure travelers and tour groups.

The journey covers approximately 190 kilometers in around four hours, stopping at Hue, Dong Ha, My Trach, Dong Hoi, and Tho Loc stations. Each stop has its own theme, highlighting the region's rich heritage. Hue represents Vietnam's imperial history, Dong Ha reflects the country's journey toward peace, My Trach celebrates local history and notable figures, Dong Hoi serves as the gateway to the coast, while Tho Loc provides easy access to Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park.

Visitors can also expect photo spots, local OCOP product stalls, and beautifully landscaped sections of railway lined with flowers, creating an even more memorable journey.

The new railway route offers an easy and scenic way to explore two of central Vietnam's most popular destinations in a single trip. Whether you're interested in Hue's royal heritage or the breathtaking caves of Phong Nha, this journey promises a unique travel experience that combines culture, history, and stunning natural scenery.
