Proposing to remove Covid-19 insurance regulations for international guests

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, it is recommended to remove the requirement that customers buy insurance to pay for Covid-19 treatment for at least 10,000 USD.

This is a proposal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently sent to the ministries of Health, Public Security, Foreign Affairs, Defense, Transport, and the Ministry of Information and Communications.

The document states that Covid-19 treatment is not as expensive as it used to be, most do not require long hospital stays. Therefore, requiring travelers to purchase insurance that covers the cost of Covid-19 treatment is no longer necessary. Before Covid-19 until now, international tourists to Vietnam are required to have travel insurance, to pay for accidents, risks, acute illnesses...

The requirement for international visitors to buy insurance with content to pay for Covid-19 treatment is at least 10,000 USD in plan No. 829/PA-BVHTTDL was issued on March 15, when Vietnam opens to tourism under normal conditions usually new.

The previous plan required international guests with negative Covid-19 test results, medical declarations, 10-day self-monitoring... According to new guidelines from the Ministry of Health, many contents in the method of judgment have been adjourned. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also proposed to cancel the above request.

In the first five months of 2022, Vietnam has welcomed more than 228,000 international visitors, the most being American and Korean visitors. The Chinese tourist market is still experiencing negative growth because the country has not yet opened. It is known that the goal of Vietnam's tourism industry in 2022 is to welcome 5 million international visitors.
