Vietnam's travel updates and restrictions

In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, Vietnam has imposed several travel restrictions on those entering the country. Vietnam has successfully in controlling Covid-19 pandemic.

Those planning to travel to Vietnam should be aware of the latest restrictions currently in place:

Vietnam has suspended the entry of all tourist since March 22, 2020, until further notice to limit the spread of COVID-19. The measure will not apply to diplomats, officials, foreign investors, experts, and skilled workers as per Prime Minister. Therefore, diplomats, officials, foreign investors, experts, and skilled workers still can arrive Vietnam with a 3 months single entry business visa but should ensure they have a sponsor who can assist them in obtaining the necessary paperwork and communicate any changes to them (Ex: Required Docs including: Company business license/ Investment Certificate,… )

Moreover, in an effort to minimize the Global Spread of 2019-nCoV, expats must provide a Negative COVID-19 test result for at least three days before entering Vietnam using the real-time PCR technique. The tests must be done at testing centers approved by their government or at test centers approved by the World Health Organization (WHO). Employees are required to have health insurance which covers health costs abroad, or be able to provide a guarantee from their company that it will cover any coronavirus-related costs. Incase they have positive Covid test result, they have to follow the Government demands and policies. Even they have been vaccinated in their host country, they still have to do quarantine for 15 days. Beginning September 1, all travelers entering Vietnam need to pay for all testing and quarantine costs. 

In an effort to protect the locals, the Vietnamese Government is very strict in the immigration process, so the visa approval time is also longer, it takes 3-5 weeks for the Immigration to review and process the visa.
